Hawaii: month 1

Well we've been in Hawaii for about a month now. Things haven't been going as planned, as usual. We planned on renting when we first got here. We found a house that we loved but when we called the realtor she said that the owner had just decided to put it on the market to sell. We were heartbroken. So we decided to see what it would take to buy. So we have gotten all prepared to buy a house, except for one thing, I dont have a job. I have applied to about 12 places and have only had one interview, which I am still waiting to hear back from. So now we have been stuck in the on post Inn (which isnt bad except for the fact that we only have a microwave, too much easy mac...). If I get this job we have a house set up to buy, its actually owned by a person we met in church. Its a great 3 bedroom house with a big backyard (big for hawaii). If I dont get this job we may have to go back to the original plan.

We have been having some fun. We went hiking, went to a luau, went to the north shore, Waikiki, Honolulu and more. It is beautiful here and of course the weather is wonderful. We really miss our animals though.

Stephen is doing really well. Its finally seems like he is really in the Army. He is a platoon leader of a recon platoon. He is really enjoying it.

Well thats all for now. Aloha!

Avila

So we flew to Ventura on our way to Hawaii to visit Stephen's sister Michelle, her husband Blair and of course, their new baby Avila Joy. She is probably the cutest baby I have ever seen. We were a little worried because we know that Stephen was an ugly baby. She definitely doesnt take after her uncle, though she does have the same super long toes. When we saw her she was about two and a half weeks old. She is by far the most awake newborn I have ever seen, as well as the most quiet. She didnt cry at all! And she slept for a lot of the night. I hope my babies are as easy as her! We had a great time eating mexican food and enjoying California for too brief a time but we had to be off to Hawaii. We're looking forward to seeing Avila again, hopefully in not too long. Maybe she'll come visit her cool Aunt Megan in Hawaii ;o)

The picture of her fist, that’s Stephen teaching her to “fight the man”.

Goodbye Holiday

Well, our Wolfepack has gone from 5 to 4. Holiday is no longer with us, not dead, just not with us. Ok, well here's what happened. To be honest, I never really liked Holiday. We just never clicked. She was kinda annoying and very spastic but Stephen made me keep her. We could tell right away that she didnt like the 2 new additions to our family (Lilo and Bagheera) but we hoped she would get used to them. Well, she didnt. She became very grumpy and antisocial. It was clear we would have to find her a new home. We asked around and we couldnt find anyone who would take her. We were starting to get desperate. Someone suggested I advertise her on an online classified page. I put an ad in on friday and got a call saturday. A lady who had one cat who was 11 years old and sick and would probably need to be put to sleep soon was interested in Holiday. The lady said she wasnt planning on getting another cat but when she saw the picture of Holiday (who looks just like the cat she already has) she just had to have her. I worked out great because we had to find a place for her before tuesday. So we said our farewell to Holiday and know that she is much happier in her new home.
