My in-laws gave us tickets to the New Orleans Zoo, Aquarium and Insectarium (3 separate places).
We have been waiting until the weather got cooler to use them and that took until now.
And so we spent the day at the zoo on one beautiful Saturday a couple weeks ago.
They had a fun little area where they talked about different animals and let the kids pet them, like this guinea pig.
Alice really wanted to ride the carousel. She was nervous as it was moving but really sad when it was over.
Just cutely eating snack.
It was lots of fun and Alice definitely had a blast.
Then yesterday we went back to New Orleans and did the aquarium and then the insectarium.
The otters were especially fun to watch.
After the aquarium we went to lunch. It was thankfully a pretty loud restaurant because Alice decided to sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star very loudly for a good part of the time we were there.
Then we walked over to the insectarium.
The best part of the insectarium was the butterfly room.
Not sure what this face is about.
All the other stuff in the insectarium just kinda creeped me out. Though they had a neat display of some really beautiful moths and beetles.
It was funny because Stephen has taught Alice that if you see a bug on you, smack it (good advice with the mosquitoes here) so she will often say at home "bug, smack!"
So as we showed her the different bugs at the insectarium she kept saying "Bug, smack!"
In the swamp bug section they had this 'gator that Alice thought was pretty fun.
