Alice Turns 5!

First Birthday:
Second Birthday:
Third Birthday:
 Fourth Birthday:
Fifth Birthday!

Alice at age 5:

She's 42 inches tall and 35 pounds.

She's not as much of a girly-girl anymore.  She not as into wearing dresses, princesses or dress up as she used to be.

She talks a lot and loves to ask LOTS of questions about everything. (the other night she asked "Why did God give us mouths?")

She's my big helper and likes to help with Rutherford and in the kitchen.

She and Jane are best friends.

She out of nowhere the other day decided her favorite color is now blue.

I wish I could say more about what her interests are but there really isn't any one thing in particular.

She likes all the nature study stuff we are doing this year and seems to be enjoying school in general.

Her favorite show is Sarah and Duck.

I have no idea what her favorite movie is, she's been picking random ones lately, none of which are princess movies.

She doesn't nap anymore but she has "quiet time" while Jane naps in the afternoon.  During quiet time she listens to audiobooks while she plays in her room.  Her favorites are Winnie the Pooh and The Little Prince.

We had a little birthday party for her at the park.  I asked her what kind of party she wanted and she said "a pony party" which I knew meant "My Little Pony" even though she's never seen the show.

Birthday girl!

It was rather hot that day, but that didn't stop the kids from running around like crazy!

Daddy brought a frisbee.

Cupcake time!

I feel like this picture could be a meme about how we all have that one friend that looks all cute eating the cupcake but your just like NOM NOM CUPCAKE!!  (Like Jane, who I lost track of how many cupcakes she ate while Alice just ate the frosting off of hers)

Present time!

Her first my little pony!  Pinkie Pie is her favorite.

My parents were also able to come out for the weekend for some birthday fun.

We got her a doll house (Ikea) and I painted some peg people for her to look like our family.

And Papa Grande and Nana got her the furniture we wanted for it.  I really wanted the furniture to be bigger, wooden pieces so that 1) they wouldn't be so easily lost and 2) they wouldn't be a choking hazard for Rutherford and any future babies.

These are from Jacobs Wooden Toys on Etsy.

The little cars are from Mama Made Them on Etsy.  https://www.etsy.com/shop/MamaMadeThem

And of course I had to do my usual birthday photo shoot with Alice.  I am determined to keep it up for each of our kids on their birthday, it's just so nice to be able to look back at each years photos.

It was hard to keep her from doing this exaggerated squinty eyed smile for all the pictures.

She's looking so grown up in this one!

I was about to delete this photo because it was blurry but then I realized that it captured Alice very well, smiling and on the go.

This girl's eyelashes....

And that's 5 year old Alice.  She's pretty awesome.

Rutherford: 6 Months Old

Rutherford is 6 months old!

He is 17lbs 14oz and 26.5 inches which is average for a boy his age.  It seems huge to me because Alice didn't weight that much till she was a year old!

He doesn't have any teeth yet but he has been drooling like crazy for a couple months now.  I have to change his bib like every hour.  It's crazy.

He doesn't spit up as much as he used to so that's nice.

Unfortunately he doesn't sleep very well.  He fusses a lot at night.  Also this past week he has decided 30 minutes is all he needs for a nap :(

Luckily for him, he is super cute and smily so I forgive him the sleep deprivation.

He loves people, attention and being held.

He can sit up on his own for about 30 seconds before he topples over.

He's making lots of noises including "da da" (the little traitor).  He also screeches which kinda drives me crazy.  It's a really awful noise.

The girls still love him like crazy and enjoy making him laugh and helping with him.

For his 6 month pictures, I decided to redo his newborn photos on the bookcase.  I really didn't think I would be able to get him to sleep up there.

But I did!  I just rocked him to sleep then set him down and quickly took the pictures.

I also took some with him awake.

His smile just melts me.

"Oh, these look like good books..."

We'll see if I can fit him up there for his 1 year pictures!
