Draw the Dog

A couple months ago I came across a really neat website called Draw the Dog.

This website was created by a retired Disney animator.

He asks people to send him funny stories and pictures of their dogs and he uses them as ideas for cartoons he draws.

I figured Lilo, being as goofy as she is, would make a great cartoon and so I sent in a few pictures of her thinking that it would be fun if there was a cartoon about her.

Well today I got an email saying she had been chosen to be turned into a cartoon!

The picture they chose was none other than the one of her sleeping on Stephen's combat boots.

Here is where you can check it out!

It's been awhile... part 2

Ok so onto to the other two item on my list of what I have been up to.

First, Lilo's grooming.

Our dog Lilo has to been taken to the groomer to be clipped and brushed or else she looks like this:

Which is not only ridiculously hot for Hawaii but also impossible to brush.

We try to keep her looking more like this:

(Yes its the same dog)

So it came time for her to get groomed again and Stephen decided that he didn't want to pay petco to do it anymore and he found a place where you groom the dog yourself using their equipment.

I had a bad feeling about this.

We can hardly brush her, I couldn't imagine how we would clip her!

Well after about 4 hours of clipping, Lilo looked a mess!

We gave up and just called it good.

I call it "the scruffy look."

In fact someone asked us recently if Lilo was a rescue dog.

Yeah, its that bad.

We have decided that it is totally worth the money for someone else to do it!

Sorry there's no picture, the camera lens is still broke.

I don't think a picture would do it justice anyway.

Second item, the creepy crawler that have infested our house.

I am dreading even telling you what they are.

Here goes....

Our house is infested with....

........

.......ticks.

I think I just heard an "ack!" in the distance.

Or maybe that was just me.

So gross right?

Well here is the reason we are still living in the house and haven't moved to a hotel or something...

They are brown dog ticks, which only bite dogs (they also don't carry diseases).

I had to keep reminding myself of this so I could sleep at night after finding them all over our bedroom.

(I still didn't sleep for a few nights and then kept having dreams about ticks on me.)

The dogs are covered in these awful things.

I know what you are probably thinking, "Why did you just put flea and tick medicine on them?"

Well these aren't just normal dog ticks, they are super dog ticks.

I believe they may have been genetically modified to survive a nuclear blast.

Maybe they escaped from some research facility.

We have tried tick baths, Advantix, two different kinds of tick collars, frontline and an indoor and outdoor tick spray.

Nothing worked.

Don't even get me started on how much all that stuff costs!

It would have been cheaper to work out a deal with the ticks to pay them off to leave!

So finally last week we called the exterminators and had them spray our whole house and yard and gave the dogs another dose of frontline.

This seems to be working.

There are still some ticks but not as many.

We are also keeping the dogs outside.

This makes us feel bad for them, they are really good at giving puppy dog eyes that make you want to give in.

Though I have to say, I am getting used to the house being cleaner with them outside.

Luckily for me in all this, Stephen can stomach picking the ticks off the dogs.

It makes me squeamish.

So thats all for now.

Have a good night!

Don't let the ticks bite!

Mwhahahaha

It's been awhile...

Hey all, sorry to have neglected you so long.

I've been drowning in to do lists and blogging, sad to say, is near the bottom of the list (along with cleaning the ceiling).

So what has happened since I've been gone?

1) My best friends came to visit.

2) Our camera lens broke.

3) We attempted to give Lilo a haircut.

4) Our house is infested with creepy crawlers.

So good news first!

My best friend (friends since age 3) Anna and her wonderful husband and adorable kids came to visit.

Don't believe me about the adorableness of the kids?

Proof:

Tyler (3) and Fox (5 months).

Yes, thats right, his name is Fox.

When Anna and I were about 10 years old, Anna was in love with David Duchovny from XFiles in which he played the role of Fox Mulder.

I distinctly remember her telling me "When I grow up, I am going to name my son Fox."

So she did.

That is Anna for you.

Unique, in a very good way.

I dont have many pictures of their visit being that my camera lens broke, I do have a few that I took when Nick let me borrow one of his lenses.

You see, Nick is an amazing photographer.

In fact, he was my wedding photographer.

Here's his page.

I was a little nervous about how the dogs were going to do with the kids.

When my niece Avila was here, Lilo was afraid of her and would run away from her.

Anna told me before their visit that Tyler was afraid of dogs.

I made a joke that they will get over their fears together.

Well, they did just that.

Though Lilo is the same size, if not bigger than, Tyler, she was really good about not knocking her over.

They made a great pair, Tyler loved throwing the ball and Lilo loved fetching it.

They also played tug of war.

Tyler watched Lilo and Stitch for the first time while her.

Then she watched it about 5 more time during the week.

She loved it.

We also colored, painted, made play dough and of course played on the beach.

I had a lot of fun with Fox too.

He is such a happy, friendly baby.

I had the honor of witnessing Fox roll over for the first time while here.

I took some pictures of the occasion.

I think I just heard an "awwww" in the distance.

So cute right!

Oh yeah Nick and Anna were here too.

Proof:

Nick and Tyler taking a nap on on the couch.

Anna "wearing" Fox.

Do you see those thighs?

I pinched them daily.

Fox's.

Not Anna's.

That would be weird.

Anna and I spent one evening in the city while the boys stayed home with the kids.

We always have a great time together.

I was sad to see them go.

It didn't help when Tyler said to me at the airport "Are you coming with us?"

"No, I have to stay here."

"Are you going to be at my birthday party?"

"No, but I'll see you at Christmas."

Items 3 & 4 to be covered soon.
