It's been awhile... part 2

Ok so onto to the other two item on my list of what I have been up to.

First, Lilo's grooming.

Our dog Lilo has to been taken to the groomer to be clipped and brushed or else she looks like this:

Which is not only ridiculously hot for Hawaii but also impossible to brush.

We try to keep her looking more like this:

(Yes its the same dog)

So it came time for her to get groomed again and Stephen decided that he didn't want to pay petco to do it anymore and he found a place where you groom the dog yourself using their equipment.

I had a bad feeling about this.

We can hardly brush her, I couldn't imagine how we would clip her!

Well after about 4 hours of clipping, Lilo looked a mess!

We gave up and just called it good.

I call it "the scruffy look."

In fact someone asked us recently if Lilo was a rescue dog.

Yeah, its that bad.

We have decided that it is totally worth the money for someone else to do it!

Sorry there's no picture, the camera lens is still broke.

I don't think a picture would do it justice anyway.

Second item, the creepy crawler that have infested our house.

I am dreading even telling you what they are.

Here goes....

Our house is infested with....

........

.......ticks.

I think I just heard an "ack!" in the distance.

Or maybe that was just me.

So gross right?

Well here is the reason we are still living in the house and haven't moved to a hotel or something...

They are brown dog ticks, which only bite dogs (they also don't carry diseases).

I had to keep reminding myself of this so I could sleep at night after finding them all over our bedroom.

(I still didn't sleep for a few nights and then kept having dreams about ticks on me.)

The dogs are covered in these awful things.

I know what you are probably thinking, "Why did you just put flea and tick medicine on them?"

Well these aren't just normal dog ticks, they are super dog ticks.

I believe they may have been genetically modified to survive a nuclear blast.

Maybe they escaped from some research facility.

We have tried tick baths, Advantix, two different kinds of tick collars, frontline and an indoor and outdoor tick spray.

Nothing worked.

Don't even get me started on how much all that stuff costs!

It would have been cheaper to work out a deal with the ticks to pay them off to leave!

So finally last week we called the exterminators and had them spray our whole house and yard and gave the dogs another dose of frontline.

This seems to be working.

There are still some ticks but not as many.

We are also keeping the dogs outside.

This makes us feel bad for them, they are really good at giving puppy dog eyes that make you want to give in.

Though I have to say, I am getting used to the house being cleaner with them outside.

Luckily for me in all this, Stephen can stomach picking the ticks off the dogs.

It makes me squeamish.

So thats all for now.

Have a good night!

Don't let the ticks bite!

Mwhahahaha
